If you want a question answered about the 2023 NHL draft, a prospect, a team, a breakdown of the picks, or anything, ask it here and it'll be answered!
It somewhat inflates his value, but it moreso just makes it harder to piece out how much was him. They all have very distinct styles, strengths and weaknesses though, and I think Smith's talents have the highest upside, even if Leonard's seem the most projectable. Perreault is very talented as well, just seems to be more of the play connector rather than play driver.
Musty is a bit of a different option for the Sharks. He's a playmaking winger with an excellent shot. He has size on the wings that the Sharks prospect pool doesn't really have except for Brandon Coe. He has some elements of Coe's game but is obviously much more talented. Playmaking is excellent but needs to improve his physicality and retrieving the puck on the boards. Would be an interesting pick because Smith projects similarly, has some of the same physicality concerns, but is a center not a winger. He might last to pick 26, but I think he goes a few picks earlier. Smith hype is fine, he really has some of the best vision and anticipation in this class. So creative and skilled. Some worry over just how well-rounded his game is and if he doesn't improve that area it'll be hard to sell him to me at least as an all-situations #1 center.
Follow up, how much of a factor is it that he had 2 amazing linemates? Do you think it inflated his value at all?
How well do you think Musty would fit in the Sharks system, do you think he'll be at pick 26, and is the hype for Smith overblown ?
